Carabie is one of the few brands that are making stuffed animals with 100% cotton or natural materials for the outside and filling. I really appreciate that and Honeydew (the hippo) has a really encouraging back story. We were excited to introduce Honeydew to our child as we train him to come off of pacifiers. It is also a good size for a baby of a standard weight around 12 months.
Where things fell short for us was that it took about two weeks to completely dry after hand wash. It is likely not a toy we will travel with because it will likely get dirty on the road and will take a long time to dry. Unfortunately, this will have to be a bedside toy. The other thing that caught me off guard was the discoloration of the water I handwashed the toy in. Even after 5 continuous thorough washes, the toy was turning the water yellow. I am not sure why the water would still turn yellow even after 5 thorough washes. The thing that bummed me the most was that my child didn't find much interest in the toy. I may just have reintroduce the toy at a later age.
Anyhow, I am still very happy with my purchase and hope my child will grow to love the toy in the future.

I wanted to provide some tips that may help with caring for your stuffy. With the inner stuffing being 100% cotton one of the downsides is that it gets very waterlogged with washing. While not officially recommended, I have experimented with putting several in the dryer and they seem to do just fine. They do dry a little lumpier if put in the dryer but you can break it up with your hands and they develop a more floppy loved quality a little faster too (some people may like this while others may not). If you prefer to continue handwashing, what I would recommend is wrapping and pressing in a towel or two when done to get excess water off, then putting it in front of a fan to speed up the drying process.
I know the yellow water can seem concerning and I have noticed this when washing some of them personally too. This can be normal for unbleached organic cotton stuffing when exposed to various elements such as moisture, heat, and air.

our daughters recent asthma diagnosis has been an adjustment for the whole family and definitely affected her ability to self soothe and sleep in her room alone after having some asthma incidents in the middle of the night. After reading the book and seeing that “Hippo has a puff puff too”, she has settled back into sleeping in her crib. Super cute concept and she loves it !!
